Every NFL team has certain positions on their roster that they need to fill in order to sustain success. NFL teams usually gain success by winning their division, and, hopefully, winning their conference in order to earn a chance to compete for a championship. When it comes to filling positions, it is better to find those players either in free agency, trades with other teams, or the NFL Draft. I am going to take a further look into the teams in the NFL’s National Football Conference South Division.

The biggest needs for the Carolina Panthers are at cornerback, linebacker and on the defensive line. Carolina should grab a cornerback at the NFL Draft, where they should draft Ohio State Buckeye Jeffery Okudah. Whether the Panthers decide to trade the pick or not, it’s more than likely than if Okudah, who by many experts, is the best corner in this draft, were not to be picked by the Detroit Lions, he would most likely fall to the Panthers at #No. 7 pick overall. The Panthers should get a linebacker at the NFL Draft as well. If Alabama linebacker Terrell Lewis is able to fall to the Panthers in the second round, they can use his versatility to bolster their defense. The best place for the Panthers to get a defensive lineman would also be at the NFL Draft, where they should grab Auburn defensive lineman Derrick Brown. Brown, who was a Unanimous All-American, is the most dominant pass rusher in this draft next to Ohio State’s Chase Young and would provide immediate help to this Carolina defense.

The three biggest needs for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are at offensive tackle, running back, and at quarterback. The best place for the Buccaneers to get an offensive tackle would be at the NFL Draft, where they should take Georgia Bulldog, Andrew Thomas. Newly acquired quarterback Tom Brady is 42 years old, and it is in the Bucs’ best interest to keep him healthy throughout the season. Tampa Bay should grab a running back at the NFL Draft as well. One running back that would fit in the Bucs offense would be Ohio State Buckeye J.K Dobbins. Dobbins had an excellent career with the Buckeyes and would be a better compliment in this Buccaneers offense. The best place for Tampa Bay to get a quarterback would be at the draft as well. Because they already have Tom Brady, they could get a quarterback in the later rounds instead of the first round. I don’t think that there’s a specific guy that they could get and their decision will be probably based on a certain preference towards one guy.

The top needs for the Atlanta Falcons are on the defensive line, at linebackers, and at defensive back. Because the Falcons’ defense was so dreadfully awful, all of their needs are on defense. A defensive lineman that the Falcons should target is South Carolina, defensive lineman Javon Kinlaw. Kinlaw is one of the best defensive players in this draft and would provide immediate help to this Atlanta team. The linebacker that Atlanta should get is Oklahoma Sooner Kenneth Murray. Over the past couple of weeks,  Murray has been a big high riser on many experts’ draft boards. Murray is an exceptional talent that would vastly improve this Atlanta defense. The defensive back that the Falcons should get is Florida Gator C.J Henderson. Henderson is arguably the fastest corner in this draft class and would be yet another guy that could provide immediate help for this Falcons defense.

The top three needs for the New Orleans Saints are quarterback, wide receiver, and linebacker. All of the Saints’ needs can be filled at the NFL Draft. The Saints should grab Utah State Aggie Jordan Love. Because of his exceptional arm talent, Love could be held as the heir apparent to future Hall of Famer Drew Brees in New Orleans. The best wide receiver that the Saints could get is Colorado receiver, Laviska Shenault, Jr. Although he has injury issues, Shenault could be a dangerous offensive weapon in this league and a great toy for this Saints offense. The linebacker that the Saints should target is LSU Tiger Patrick Queen. Queen is one of the better linebackers in this draft class and would provide better depth for this Saints defense.
