Every NFL team has certain positions on their roster that they need to fill in order to sustain success. NFL teams usually gain success by winning their division, and, hopefully, winning their conference in order to earn a chance to compete for a championship. When it comes to filling positions, it is better to find those players either in free agency, trades with other teams, or the NFL Draft. I am going to take a further look into the teams in the NFL’s American Football Conference Eastern Division.

The biggest needs for the Miami Dolphins are at quarterback, offensive line and on the defensive line. Miami should grab a quarterback at the NFL Draft, where they should draft Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa. Although he has durability issues, the Dolphins are a team in the process of a rebuild, so why not take one of the best quarterbacks in this draft class with that top-five pick. The Dolphins should get an offensive lineman at the NFL Draft as well. Since the Dolphins have multiple first-round draft picks, they can use the ladder of them on Houston Cougars offensive lineman, Josh Jones. Jones has been a high riser on many expert’s draft boards. The best place for the ‘Phins to get a defensive lineman would be through NFL Free Agency, where they should pick up Jadeveon Clowney. Clowney is one of the better pass rushers in the NFL.

The three biggest needs for the New York Jets are at offensive tackle, cornerback, and at defensive end. The best place for the Jets to get an offensive tackle would be at the NFL Draft. At this point in the draft process, I don’t think it really matters which o-lineman the Jets take, for it’s a tossup for which one is the best is this draft class. New York might want to grab a corner in free agency. Former Denver Bronco Chris Harris is still out there for teams to get. If the Jets are looking for a veteran presence in their locker room or a guy that can be a solid shutdown corner in this league, Harris fits both of those qualities for this Jets team and would bring solid impact. New York could also grab a defensive end at the draft. A guy that they could potentially steal is LSU Tiger, K’Lavon Chaisson. Next to Ohio State Buckeye Chase Young, Chassion might be the next best edge rusher and would provide immediate impact to the Jets defense.

The top needs for the Buffalo Bills are at defensive end, wide receiver, and on the offensive line. All of these needs can be filled at the NFL Draft. The defensive end that the Bills should draft is Iowa Hawkeye A.J Epenesa. Epenesa is one of the better pass rushers in the NFL Draft, and could bring more depth to an improving Bills defense. Although the Bills helped with their wide receiver help with the addition of former Minnesota Viking Stephon Diggs, the Bills could still add another playmaker on the second day of the draft in rounds 2 and 3. The receiver that the Bills could add is Arizona State Sun Devil Brandin Aiyuk, because not only does he provide great playmaking ability at the receiver position, but also on special teams in the return game. The offensive lineman that the Bills could target is Houston tackle Josh Jones. During the course of the draft process, the Houston product has been a high riser on most NFL scouts and executives’ big boards and would be another guy who provides great depth to this Buffalo team.

The top three needs for the New England Patriots are at quarterback, wide receiver, and at defensive end. Now that the Tom Brady era in New England is over, the Pats will now be looking to the draft for their next franchise quarterback. A guy that has come up a lot with the Patriots is Utah State Aggie Jordan Love. Because he has exceptional arm talent, Love could bring a lot of excitement to the city of Foxborough. The Patriots should also look to the NFL draft for a receiver. The guy that they should take is Clemson Tiger Tee Higgins. Higgins is the draft class’ best vertical threat and would provide immediate help to the struggling receiving core in New England. The best place for the Pats to get a defensive lineman is in the NFL Free Agency. Why Jadeveon Clowney is still available is anyone’s guess, but if the Patriots sign him, it would make the Pats into the best defense in the NFL, if they weren’t already.
